Not all that long ago - pre 2020 - people made bucket lists of experiences they imagined having, places they dreamed of visiting, and adventures they would like to go on. These lists were tucked away in a mental file labelled ‘someday’. But post-pandemic, there’s a hunger to celebrate our freedom, to surround ourselves with the people we love, and to live life now. In short, ‘someday’ is today.
As postponed travel plans are revived, the team at The Source is seeing those dream trips being embellished. Our guests want more from their vacations than they did in the past - and as purveyors of luxury villa rentals and destination experts in the Turks and Caicos we’re here to deliver just that.
More space and privacy
After long months of social distancing, our desire for togetherness burns brighter than ever. Travellers want to gather their favourite people around them to celebrate life, so it’s no surprise that demand for group vacations – whether for multi-generational families, close friends or even corporate retreats - is high.
Style and seclusion are essential ingredients, so yachts, islands and large villas are favoured settings for those long overdue get togethers. Our villas of distinction, many of which accommodate 12 or more guests, deliver all the elegance and service of a luxury hotel, without having to share the space with strangers.
More bespoke
Staying within the comfortable confines of a five-star resort and simply soaking up the sun no longer satisfies the discerning traveller. Today’s travellers want to experience new destinations with all their senses. They crave adventure, excitement, private tours and experiences customised to their interests.
In our little cluster of tropical isles that might mean scuba diving alongside rainbow-hued fish or marvelling at the sight of breaching humpback whales. It could be a private sunrise yoga class or horseback riding on the beach.
Our concierges have built a network of trusted local vendors that offer the quality of service our clientele expect; they work with guests before and during their stay to customise vacations from start to finish.
More time
In an age where remote work is widely accepted, many high level executives are combining vacation time with work time in previously unimagined ways. More and more of our guests choose to stay with us for longer, taking advantage of the ability to work under the shade of a palm tree.
Some book a villa for a month, and plan on working for the first and last week, relaxing in between. Others make the most of working in different time zones: why not spend the morning beachcombing, work from noon until 8pm, and finish in time for dinner under the stars?
Better still, several of our villas have desks with ocean views - or entire offices - that are ideal for the working traveller.
Longer stays work particularly well during the shoulder season, or even the off season, when it may rain a little more often, but the sun is still warm, the islands are quieter, and the prices are lower.
More wellness
There’s nothing quite like a pandemic to highlight the need to take care of our physical and mental health. Finding the time to do so is not always simple though, so for many, vacations are a time for self-care – whether that means a week of physical activity and healthy eating, or focusing on rest, relaxation and indulgent spa treatments. Turks and Caicos offers countless wellness activities and our collection of properties includes several with well-equipped gyms, some with tennis and pickle ball courts, others with massage rooms – and all feature swimming pools, kayaks, paddleboards and the Caribbean Sea a stone’s throw away.
