About Grace Bay
Grace Bay lies on the northeastern shore of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. The beach itself runs from The Bight on the western side to Leeward on the eastern side, while downtown Grace Bay refers to the developed area behind the central part of the beach.
Grace Bay Beach
The beauty of Grace Bay beach is unrivalled. With incredibly soft, white sand that stretches for 12 uninterrupted miles, lapped by translucent turquoise seas, and an offshore barrier reef that keeps the waters of the bay calm and incredibly clear, it regularly wins awards.
Because Grace Bay beach is part of the Princess Alexandra National Park, both land and sea are protected, ensuring they remain pristine. It’s also sheltered from the prevailing trade winds, so trash and sargassum weed do not wash ashore.
Despite being home to numerous high-end hotels, resorts, and villas, the beach is never crowded. Whether you enjoy long walks along the shore, relaxing in the shade of an umbrella, or skimming across the bay on a windsurfer, you’ll always find tranquility and plenty of space.
Downtown Grace Bay
Situated between those perfect sands and Grace Bay Road, lies downtown Grace Bay. This clean, walkable, well-maintained neighbourhood is the centre of tourism in Provo, and offers a a vibrant array of services and conveniences.
It’s a shopper’s delight, featuring a blend of quirky boutiques, high-end stores and charming art galleries, as well as fine-dining restaurants and all the services you could need, from ATMs and grocery stores to pharmacies and clinics.
A very special initiative on Grace Bay road is Potcake Place. Visitors are welcome to drop in at this dog rescue charity to meet the four-legged residents, and take them for a walk to help socialise them.
Grace Bay Activities
Grace Bay’s calm, inviting waters are a playground for virtually every water sport you could hope for. Some of the best family activities in Turks and Caicos can be found here, ranging from high octane banana rides and parasailing to the more mellow experience of exploring by kayak or Hobie cat. There are plenty of options for those looking to try something new too, whether it’s sub-winging, e-foiling, or kite surfing.
For guests staying in our Grace Bay villas, these activities can be brought right to your doorstep for unparalleled convenience. Just ask your concierge.
Note: The one water sport you will not be able to do at Grace Bay is jet skiing, as personal water craft are not permitted inside the Princess Alexandra National Park.
Grace Bay Snorkelling and Diving
The waters around the Turks and Caicos harbour incredible marine life, but you’ll need to head offshore for the best snorkelling and scuba diving. There are, however, a couple of snorkel sites – Smiths Reef and Coral Gardens – that are accessible from the western end of the beach and are well worth exploring.
At the eastern end of Grace Bay, where many of our villas are located, beach groins attract colourful marine life, providing accessible snorkelling only steps from the villas.
In recent years, a pod of very social dolphins have become regular visitors to this area, and often approach swimmers, wanting to play. Encountering these wild creatures is a highlight of any Turks and Caicos vacation.
Dining in Grace Bay
Providenciales has earned a reputation as a world-class culinary destination, and Grace Bay is the epicentre. The options run the gamut from casual beachfront bars where you can savour authentic Caribbean flavours with your toes in the sand to fine dining at elegant beachfront resort restaurants.
Downtown too offers numerous independent restaurants where internationally-acclaimed chefs serve up truly superb culinary creations that rival the world’s best.
Getting Around Grace Bay
While you may need a car or taxi to reach the downtown area, this neighbourhood is easy to explore on foot. Most restaurants, shops and conveniences are located within walking distance of each other and there are several access paths to reach the beach from here.
If you need a taxi (minivan) you can usually find them waiting at the main resorts and at Graceway Gourmet supermarket. Otherwise, local businesses will be happy to call one for you.
